60 Midwives in Ciracas Have Received PPE Aid

60 midwives in Ciracas Subdistrict, East Jakarta received a package of personal protective equipment (PPE) aid in the commemoration of the 69th Indonesian Midwife Day and the city's 493rd anniversary.

The aid handover was conducted in the hall of the Ciracas Sub-district Office, which was witnessed virtually by Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan, as well as Jakarta DPRD's Commission D Secretary Syarif, East Jakarta Health Sub-agency Head Indra Setiawan and Ciracas Sub-district Head Mamad.

In a speech delivered virtually, the governor congratulated the Indonesian midwives who celebrated their 69th anniversary and was grateful for being able to stay in touch with the midwives.

Anies Appreciates Importance of Midwife's Role and Duty

"We can say our economic condition lately is faltering but midwife services are still remembered by mothers and the wider community. Moreover they are credited with assisting the childbirth process," h expressed, Wednesday (6/24).

He also congratulated two Ciracas residents who had gone through the process of giving birth to coincide with the city's anniversary last Monday. Even he even gave the names of the two babies, Fatahillah and Amira Nur Ayu, including giving prayers to be leaders and enlighten the environment and provide peace.

Commission D Secretary Syarif added the aid given contained masks, gloves, hamzat suits and face shield. As for both parents who give birth get aid in the form of baby equipment and stroller.

"We are all born with the help of a midwife. That's why you have to care about them and on Indonesian Midwife Day, which falls on June 24th," he stated.

Ciracas Ranting Indonesian Midwives Association (IBI) Chairwoman Ristiawati admitted it was very useful, especially when carrying out tasks during the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Alhamdulillah this is very important for us to carry out tasks amid COVID-19 pandemic as it is today," he stated.
